LovelySkin
LovelySkin was the job where I really got to grow into my role as a UX professional.
I started working here when I was 23, showing up for my interview in a suit jacket (no tie because I thought that would be cool), and mockups printed off and tucked away in my nerdy 11x17" binder. I also had copies of my resume, lasered on ivory-colored paper I had picked out at the local FedEx office.
I was essentially trying to pull off this effect from American Psycho...

At LovelySkin, I really got to learn what was important inside of an e-commerce business. It was heavily reliant on email marketing, but had loyal customers from all over the world.
The section I sat in was placed right next to the warehouse, where I could see the thousands of orders being processed daily. Each employee was required to take part in Black Friday packing each year, and while it always seemed a bit pointless for every role in the company to have a hand in this, I always kind of liked it. There's something about being a part of the madness of the sales that I'm helping increase each year that really helps you grasp the whole purpose of what you do day-in and day-out.
Over the course of my time at LovelySkin, I designed the new subscriptions flow, helped make the rewards system easier to understand, and eventually did an entire site redesign.
I made valuable relationships along the way, and throughly enjoyed my time at the company!
